Clear expectations for training together.
These policies explain booking, cancellation, participation, safety, media and teaching-material expectations for services provided by Gab Lacarriere LLC, a New York limited liability company.
Gab Lacarriere LLC operates this website. Gab Lacarriere is the public teaching name. Your booking or event agreement identifies the service provider, price, schedule and applicable terms, including arrangements with a partner venue or organizer. Existing agreements remain subject to their agreed terms; any transfer to the LLC must be handled separately where required.
A specific booking, membership or event agreement may add details; where law requires different terms, the law controls. Read our privacy notice for information about inquiries, student records and website data.
1. Booking, payment & scheduling
Prices, session length, recurring billing, deposits and any service-specific scheduling terms are the ones shown or agreed at the time of booking. A booking is confirmed only when the applicable booking process is completed.
If Gab must cancel a paid session that cannot reasonably be rescheduled, the unused amount for that session will be refunded or credited, as appropriate.
This page does not create a new cancellation fee or deposit requirement where none was stated at booking.
2. New York consumer cancellation rights
Some dance, physical-skill and social-training service contracts in New York are governed by New York General Business Law § 394-b. Where that law applies, its cancellation and refund rights are part of the agreement even if omitted elsewhere.
For a service contract that requires a cancellation address, the signed or booking agreement should identify that address. This website page is informational and is not a substitute for the required contract language.
3. Physical participation & safety
Brazilian Zouk, Lambada, partner dance, mobility work and related training are physical activities. They can involve balance changes, rotation, weight transfer, partner contact, floor travel, head movement and other movements that carry inherent physical risks.
- Participate within a range you can control and stop when something feels unsafe, painful, disorienting or beyond your current capacity.
- Tell the instructor about relevant limitations or injuries when that information is needed to modify an exercise safely.
- Do not force a partner’s range of motion. Either partner may decline, modify or stop an exercise at any time.
- For head movement, cambré, counterbalance and other higher-load skills, technical readiness and progressive range take priority over depth or speed.
This section is an acknowledgment of the nature of physical participation and shared safety responsibilities. It is not intended to waive rights that cannot lawfully be waived, including liability that New York law does not permit a paid recreational business to disclaim.
4. Respect, consent & partner work
Partner dance requires ongoing consent. Students may decline a partner, movement, physical contact, head movement, lift, dip, counterbalance or other exercise without needing to justify the choice. Harassment, retaliation for setting boundaries, deliberately unsafe conduct or repeated disregard of a partner’s stated limits may result in removal from a class, event or program.
5. Photo & video
Attendance alone is not treated as blanket permission to use someone’s identifiable image for advertising. When a class, workshop or session is being recorded for promotional or commercial use, consent should be obtained through the applicable event process or a separate release.
Students may record personal practice or instructor demonstrations only when the instructor, venue and any identifiable partners permit it.
6. Teaching materials & personal use
Original class notes, drill libraries, written curricula, diagrams, videos, Teaching Lab material and other instructional resources provided by Gab are intended for the recipient’s personal learning unless another license or permission is given.
Students and teachers may use what they learn in their own dancing and teaching. Reposting, selling, copying a substantial resource library, distributing paid materials, or presenting Gab’s written/video materials as one’s own requires permission.
7. Professional scope
Dance instruction, movement education and wellness-oriented exercises are educational services, not medical diagnosis or treatment. Students with a medical concern should seek appropriate licensed healthcare advice.
8. Event & organizer work
Festivals, weekenders, schools and private organizers should use a separate written agreement covering fee, payment timing, teaching schedule, travel and lodging, cancellation, force majeure, media use, equipment/venue responsibilities and any exclusivity or recording rights. Website policies do not replace that organizer agreement.
