An illustrative training decision
A turn works with your regular partner, but not at a social.
That observation does not tell us which format to buy. First ask what changes: your timing, the preparation, the available space, the partner's response, or your ability to choose the movement without a classroom prompt.
When you cannot identify the problem
A private lesson is one way to investigate it. Bring a simple version you already know. We can reduce the task, observe what actually happens and choose one useful adjustment rather than assume that the entire pattern needs rebuilding.
When the explanation is clear but the action is inconsistent
Try focused practice on that adjustment. In Kinesthetic Practice, the task can stay narrow while you repeat and compare attempts. For example, revisit only the preparation before reconnecting it to the familiar turn. Do not make the movement bigger or add force to compensate for uncertainty.
When it works only in the familiar setup
A suitable group class or agreed practice with another partner gives you a different test. Change one condition, such as the entry or music, and notice what remains available. A social dance can then show what happens without announcing the pattern. Your partner is not obliged to help you complete an exercise during a social.
These are alternatives based on the problem, not a package of four services everyone must purchase. This example reflects my teaching approach; the longer practice article explains its research context and limitations.
